Mystery! Horror! Mayhem! A Genre Author Panel

Join us for a night of mystery and horror as authors Alex Segura (Secret Identity) and Cassandra Khaw (The Salt Grows Heavy) help Cynthia Pelayo celebrate her new haunting mystery novel, Forgotten Sisters!
Our authors will read from their novels and then discuss their experiences as authors, especially within genre fiction.

Cynthia Pelayo is a Bram Stoker Award and International Latino Book Award winning author and poet. Pelayo writes fairy tales that blend genre and explore concepts of grief, mourning, and cycles of violence. She is the author of Loteria, Santa Muerte, The Shoemaker’s Magician, to name a few, as well as dozens of standalone short stories and poems. Her forthcoming release is Forgotten Sisters from Thomas and Mercer. She lives in Chicago with her family.

Alex Segura is the bestselling and award-winning author of Secret Identity, which The New York Times called “wittily original” and named an Editor’s Choice. Secret Identity was also listed as one of the Best Mysteries of the Year by NPR, Kirkus, Booklist, the South Florida Sun Sentinel and more, and was nominated for the Anthony Award for Best Hardcover, the Lefty and Barry Awards for Best Novel, the Macavity Award for Best Mystery Novel, and won the LA Times Book Prize in the Mystery/Thriller category. Cassandra Khaw is the USA Today bestselling author of Nothing But Blackened Teeth and the Bram Stoker Award-winner, Breakable Things. Other notable works of theirs are Bram Stoker Award finalist The Salt Grows Heavy and British Fantasy Award finalist Hammers on Bone. Khaw’s work can be found in places like The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Year’s Best Science Fiction and Fantasy, and Tor.com. Khaw is also the co-author of The Dead Take the A Train, co-written with bestselling author Richard Kadrey.
